The Reynolds Family Farm

Welcome to The Reynolds Family Farm, three generations of an Irish Farm Family caring for our soils and countryside / environment to enable us to produce Healthy, Nutrient Dense Food to Nourish Irish Families at mealtimes.

On this Farm we employ many methods of what I call Nature Friendly Farming. We apply organic animal manures to our fields every year to replenish the nutrients our crops remove every year as part of their natural growing cycle.

We go the extra mile to compost our own poultry manure which means it is much more friendly to the soil microbes when it is applied. This take extra time and costs more that just applying raw manures to the soil. This, also helps to protect the minerals in the manure from being lost to the environment and helps to reduce odours. Again, all part of our passion for farming in friendship with Nature.

Using our own organic manure produced on our own farm means we can eliminate the need for chemical fertilisers, again working in partnership with nature.

This also means we from in the old tradition of a mix of farming enterprises that support each other to allow our farm to be sustainable. For example, some of our crops produced go to feed the livestock on our farm and then their valuable organic based manure helps to grow and nourish the next years crop production, a truly sustainable and integrated farming production system. On our family farm we also grow a range of cover crops to help us farm the way nature does naturally. As a way to protect the soil. Manure never leaves the soil bare and nature also always grows multispecies of plants never monoculture.

Here at The Reynolds Family Farm we like to keep things simple and learn from Nature. We plant our Cover crops to help protect our soils and in doing so they also help to suppress weeds, reduce soil erosion, improve soil fertilisers, protect our watercourses, and increase the biodiversity on our farm.

When we look at the benefits, they bring on our farm, we feel they enhance the biology of our soils, improve our soil structure, increase water infiltration, help cycle soil nutrients and encourage wildlife.

And again, it all helps us to farm in a nature friendly way.
